Gary Mallett - Associate
Gary commenced legal practice as an articled clerk in a North Queensland general practice law firm in February 1986. He studied law externally through Queensland University Technology and graduated with an Honours Degree. He was also awarded the North Queensland Law Association bursary for the highest marks for an external law student in his first year of study.
Gary was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in December 1992. He was then admitted as a solicitor of the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
Gary’s career highlight so far was his involvement in a prominent Supreme Court case that changed the landscape for nervous shock compensation claims in Queensland. This case was also the subject of an Australian Civil Justice Award.
Gary has over 30 years of legal experience in most areas of the law.
Gary joined OMB in 2016. He practices in family law, civil law, criminal law, wills and estates (and estate litigation), commercial law and litigation, body corporate matters, anti-discrimination and domestic violence matters.
Over the years Gary has been respected by his colleagues and clients for his ethics, and for his ability to explain the law (and how the law applies to the facts of a case) in a way that is clear and easy to understand.
Outside of work Gary is a keen fisherman and boatie. His interests include meteorology and the North Queensland Cowboys.
