Biography
Abbi was admitted as a Solicitor in 2003 after obtaining an Arts Degree with Distinction and a Bachelor of Laws from the Queensland University of Technology. In 2009 Abbi became a Queensland Law Society Accredited Specialist in Family Law and in 2013 completed a Masters of Law (Applied – Family Law) through the College of Law.
Since being admitted as a Solicitor, Abbi has worked exclusively in Family Law.
Abbi Golightly has for the 7th year in a row, been acknowledged by Doyles Guide as a Recommended Leading Family Lawyer.
Abbi has experience in all facets of Family Law including both married and de facto relationships, same-sex relationships, and family law issues involving third parties in both property and parenting disputes.
Having a keen interest in strategic and early dispute resolution, Abbi has extensive experience in resolving matters by way of negotiation, mediation and arbitration, having completed further education with the Australian Institute of Family Law Arbitrators and Mediators. Family Law is a complex and emotional area of law and Abbi balances expert legal knowledge with a sensible and empathetic approach to each of her client’s matters.
Abbi’s practice includes negotiation of agreements, preparation of a wide range of Court documents and appearances within the Federal Circuit and Family Law Courts, specialist domestic violence courts, and relevant tribunals. An experienced advocate, Abbi appears on behalf of clients regularly within all of the Family Law Courts.
One of a few South-East Queensland lawyers with experience in Surrogacy and artificial conception law, Abbi regularly advises parties involved in surrogacy arrangements to assist people in achieving their dreams of parenthood.
As an Accredited Specialist in family law, her experience and knowledge in all manner of complex family law matters is all-embracing.
